What is Social Media and how does it apply to CVC?

If you look below and to the left you will see 5 buttons with the phrase that says “connect with us”. These are ways that we as a church staff and church body would like to connect with you online. Obviously this website is a great place to connect and get info, but in this day and age there are a few other places where I believe real online connection can take place. Here is an explanation of each one and how they will be used here at CVC.

If you are looking at the buttons from left to right the first one is an RSS Feed  (Really Simple Syndication) to these posts.You can add this link to your google reader or other RSS Feed reader and get the latest info this way.

The second button, YouTube, is where you will find Pastor Mark’s video devotionals and any other church video other than the Sunday teachings. Starting the week of April 11th-17th we will be putting a new video devotional up that is roughly 3-5 minutes long. You will be able to view the video and comment on it if you like.

The middle button, Facebook, will take you to the CapoValleyChurch Facebook page. Odds are the majority of you have a Facebook page. If Facebook were a country it would be the third largest country in the world. As of this writing we have 89 people we connect with on our Facebook page. This is a place to connect with other CVC attenders and to also find out more about ministries, events, videos or other things going on in the church. If you comment here we will definitely reply back.

The fourth button, the one with the bird on it, is Twitter. Twitter is a social media site where you can choose to follow people you know, people you share interests with or people you want to learn from. One way to look at Twitter is that it’s kind of like customer service. We will be posting links on our Twitter account and also church updates ranging anywhere from Children’s Ministry to Student Ministry to Small Groups to Sunday Mornings and so on. We will also reply to you here if you communicate to us through Twitter.

And the last button, Vimeo, is where you will find all of the Sunday teachings. Only the Sunday Sermons will be found on the Vimeo page. This makes it easy for you to direct friends to and easy for you to find just the sermons.
