Food For Thought

“Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

And the King will say,’ I tell you the truth, wen you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
Mathew 25:37-40

We have a special opportunity as a church to serve our community in a remarkable event happening on our campus. This Saturday, May 15th, from 10:00am – 2:00pm is the ‘Food For Thought’ health/resource and food pantry fair hosted by Western Youth Services & Capo Valley Church.

Western Youth Services is an agency whose outreach coordinator you probably know, Albee Sakai. Albee, volunteers as the keyboard player on our worship team. He is very excited about reaching out to our local community with God’s love. Western Youth Services is a non-profit organization contracted by the County of Orange to help children recognize that they are valued.

Along with WYS there will be 15 different agencies to help individuals and families who are in need. Visitors will have access to free medical screenings via Mission Hospital, Asthma Education, information on community services from Family Resource of San Juan Capistrano, OC Poison Prevention, food and shelter information, resources to help with addictions and much more.

Additionally, 5000 pounds of food from Second Harvest will be distributed to families. We will have BBQ’d hot dogs, a raffle with great prizes and music!

To make the most of this outreach we need volunteers to help serve and minister to our guests. We need help in our CVC booth, with set-up and clean-up, and help sorting and packaging food. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve our community and to reach out with the hands of our Lord.

“and the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!

Thank you and God Bless.
